Aids & Adaptations
The Society is keen to support tenants to secure aids and adaptations to their homes to help them enjoy living in their homes. To progress this the tenant will need to secure a written report and recommendation from their Occupational Therapist stating the reason for and the exact nature of the adaptations that are required. Once this has been obtained the tenant should pass on the details including copies of the report to the Society through their Housing Officer. The Society will work with the tenant and the Occupational Therapist to secure the necessary funding and consents, if applicable, to implement the adaptations. Initially funding should be sought through local authority Disabled Facility Grant. If this is not possible the Society may be able to fund, or part fund, the adaptations through it's own resources depending on the scale of the expenditure required. The Society can help arrange a visit from an Occupational Therapist and support you in making an application for a Disabled Facilities Grant. See our policy leaflet for more information. Please speak to your Housing Officer if you think you need some aids or adaptations in your home.
