Care Staff Profiles
Andy After leaving school I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next. I liked the idea of working with people, so I did some voluntary work which gave me an insight into care. It wasn't how I imagined it would be and having really enjoyed it, I decided to give care work a go. I joined Granta as a Project Worker in a scheme for people with Learning Disabilities. Granta have lots of different types of Care Homes and after a couple of years I decided to try out working with Older People. I have since been promoted to Project Manager. I manage a team of 25 supporting 35 residents. Shift work took a bit of getting used to but offers a lot of flexibility which means my social life hasn't suffered. Working in care gives me the opportunity to put something back, develop a career, feel good about myself and earn some money at the same time. Whether you're seeking permanent or casual work, if you want to make a difference why don't you give us a call. Judy When I joined Granta my children were young and I wanted to get back into work to earn some money. At that time I wasn't looking for a career, however, Granta have supported me to develop by giving lots of opportunities. I started as a Support Worker and I am now a Project Manager. It's taken 8 years during which I have held a number of different roles. I have worked full time, part-time, nights and days. I have managed to run a home and develop a career. You have to make an effort and be prepared to go the extra mile but Granta have given me career opportunities and training they could do the same for you.
